River Teign Rowing Club

Welcome to The River Teign Rowing Club - the largest rowing club in the UK and possibly Europe.
The Teign has hosted fiercely contested rowing races for over 200 years and the formation of the club in 1994, was well overdue.
The club started by teams racing each other in traditional wooden Seine Boats. Followed by the introduction of fiberglass models taken from a mould of the original wooden boats. Each year since its inception the club has organised a series of races for men, ladies and juniors.
In 1998 we started racing Cornish Pilot Gigs, with the long term loan of Jeannie. We currently have three Gigs and take part in regattas all over the South West.
In 2011 Teign Scullers Rowing Club merged with us. Established in 2004 as a small ‘fine boat’ rowing club, providing recreational sweep and scull rowing. We have a large selection of sculls and compete in WEARA races.

Don’t just watch - have a go

Rowing and sculling are outdoor activities, so it is important to recognise that contending with difficult weather conditions, other water users and using different waterways is all part of the sport.  Rowing has an excellent safety record, but it can be easy to become complacent.

'Row Safe: A Guide to Good Practice in Rowing' provides clubs and individuals with guidance on a wide range of safety topics, education and training.  It acts as a basis on which clubs can responsibly develop safe practice, tailoring them to their specific rowing programme and local waterway.
